cimt turns 25: from its founding in 2000 to 300+ employees in three countries

In 2000 cimt was founded as an independent IT consultancy, headquartered in Hamburg. Twenty-five years later, more than 300 people work across offices in Germany, Spain and the Netherlands. The anniversary was celebrated at the offices, with cake, balloons and a one-off version of the logo. A good moment to look briefly at what was built in those years, and what it means for our clients in the Netherlands, Belgium and the UK.

Three domains, one company

cimt works in three domains that complement each other.

Consulting. Transformation programmes from strategy through to delivery. The strength is the combination of technology knowledge, business-process knowledge and an understanding of what a given sector demands. Systems have to work today and still hold up years from now.

Technology. Solutions that stretch the boundary between standard software and open source. Deep expertise in open-source products and in the SAP HANA platform lets cimt advise clients objectively on which combination of technologies fits their situation, without a bias towards a single vendor.

Service. Scalable services for infrastructure, security, cloud and application management. Capacity that flexes with demand, so innovation cycles do not stall on operations.

In the Netherlands, from cimt B.V. in Vught, the emphasis is on data management and data governance, built on the DAMA DMBoK framework. That is a specialisation within the wider group profile: when a Dutch project calls for SAP, cloud or security expertise, it is available within the group.

Recognition

In 2023 the German business magazine brand eins listed cimt among the best IT service providers in Germany (“Beste IT-Dienstleister Deutschlands 2023”). Lists like that never tell the whole story, but it is an independent confirmation of the quality of the work.

Milestones along the way

A few moments from recent years that set the company’s direction:

• 2000: founded, headquartered in Hamburg.
• 2022: the boards of cimt objects ag (with Oliver Fromm and Rouven Homann) and cimt consulting ag (with Johannes Honold, Natalie Ladwein and Niels Röder) were expanded.
• 2024: the Spanish office opened, making the group active in three countries.
• 2025: 25 years of cimt, with more than 300 employees.

What it means for our clients

For a client in the Benelux or the UK, the group matters for two reasons. First, continuity: a consultancy that has existed for 25 years and grown steadily is not going to disappear halfway through a multi-year data programme. Second, scale: the local team remains the single point of contact, but can draw on more than 300 colleagues for specialist questions.

On to the next 25 years

The coming years are about further growth and new projects. In the Netherlands that means a clear focus on data governance, data quality and the data foundations organisations need for AI. Our thanks to all the clients, partners and colleagues who shaped the past 25 years with us.
